What is MP4 encoded with H.264?

This website publishes videos in a format commonly known as "MP4" or "H.264". It is the HTML5 Internet standard for video and as such is supported by most Internet browsers and devices

MPEG-4 Part 14 or MP4 is a digital multimedia format most commonly used to store video and audio. It usually tied to H.264/MPEG-4 Part 10 which is a codename of a patented standard for video compression.

This standard is supported by Microsoft Windows, Apple OS X, Google Chrome, gaming consoles, smart TVs &c. plus it is natively decoded by virtually all graphic hardware including mobile devices' integrated chips.

So basically unless you are running Linux or Windows 2000 versions of Opera or Firefox on a device with graphical chipset older than 5 years, you should be fine.

But I cannot watch it in my browser!

  • First try upgrading your browser. It will not only give you full video capability but first and foremost protect you from common attacks
  • If you use Mozilla Firefox you may have to search for a system-specific plugin for the browser. You may want to consult www.mozilla.org for details
  • If you cannot or simply don't feel like upgrading your browser you can download the video to your computer and watch it in another application like Windows Media Player, iTunes or whatever

Remember that out videos are not free and we allow you to download them for personal use only. For example you may transfer them to your iPad to watch later with friends but you cannot upload them to the Internet or share with people that are not your friends or family
