I would also like to ask what you do with different gem colours like purple? Or a more desaturated green? I am painting in this colour scheme and I can get the wraithstone quite good, but I need tips on the gems http://www.coolminiornot.com/181222?browseid=9352388

Can I use johnsons klear to make my own clear paints? Like violet or blue/green/turquoise?

Hi, I use clear paints from Humbrol (red, green, grey) Revell (blue) and all Tamiya clear colors. If I need for example purple clear paint - I make it mixing red and blue. In my opinion humbrol paints are better, than Tamiya which I find too thin and with low covering ratio. I never used johnsons clear (even never heard about it)

Good to hear of a solution, thanks! Johnsons Klear is used as a kind of gloss varnish by people doing scale model WW2 stuff etc. Also, most of the better things (tanks) by Forgeworld's Phil Stutcinskas. It's used as a sprayed base for oil paints, kind of like you do with (satin) varnish. So you think that there is more to clear paints than varnish+paint or even varnish+ink? I will experiment a bit and also get Humbrol then.
